Protein Folding Challenge

Proteins are tiny building blocks that help our bodies work properly, and their shapes really matter. For years, scientists have tried to understand how proteins twist and fold into these shapes. Recently, AI systems like AlphaFold have helped crack this puzzle much faster.

Come along at Oriel Science and build your own “protein” using beads and pipe cleaners. Explore how simple pieces can fold into surprisingly complex shapes!

Many thanks to Xplore, also a partner in ASDC’s Demystifying AI programme, for allowing us to use their Protein Folding Challenge activity.
